Fiesta Brava
La fiesta brava ha sido recreada de manera brillante por numerosos y muy notables maestros de la pintura. Sobra decir que ha sido una temática representada, en la mayoría de los casos, de una manera tradicional. Para mí, la escena taurina tiene que ver más con la luz, el color y el movimiento. Con esa fracción de segundo en la que confluyen la fuerza y velocidad de la embestida del toro, con la maestría y gracia del torero ejecutando una suerte con atributos ciertamente artísticos; todo ello en un instante en el que el espectador sólo percibe sensaciones de aquellos atributos que convierten la escena en una espectacular, aunque muy breve y luminosa explosión de fuerza, dinamismo y color.
Fiesta Brava (Bullfights), has been painted, brilliantly, by numerous and very noteworthy master painters. It goes without saying that it´s been a topic depicted, mainly, in a rather traditional fashion. A bullfight has more to do with performance than fighting, but to me, the bullfight scene has to do more with light, color and motion. That fraction of a second in which the bull’s power and speed converge with the matador’s skill and grace in executing an artistic sort of ballet dance while eluding the bull’s lunge, all in an instant where the spectator perceives only sensations of those attributes transforming the scene into a spectacular, even if brief, luminous explosion of force, dynamism and color.
